Smart Cities + Digital Transformation Committee

In March, the Council’s Smart Cities + Digital Transformation Committee recently toured the Peoria Police Department’s Real-Time Crime Center, gaining firsthand insight into how advanced technologies are transforming public safety. From real-time data and integrated video to analytics and connected systems, these tools are enabling faster response times, more effective investigations and stronger case development.

Tucson CEO Network Connects with Congressional Leadership

The Arizona Technology Council’s Tucson CEO Network recently met with Congressman Juan Ciscomani for a productive discussion on issues impacting Arizona’s technology sector. Network members shared insights from the aerospace and defense industry in Southern Arizona, while Congressman Ciscomani provided updates on federal priorities, including appropriations and workforce development initiatives such as JTED and CTE programs.

Optics Valley

  • Optics Valley along with American Center for Optical Manufacturing (AmeriCOM) to host a Legislative Breakfast on April 7 with numerous local and state legislatures along with optics and educational representatives to discuss the talent and workforce pipeline.
  • Q2 Optics Valley member meeting will take place April 14 at Pima Community College’s Advanced Manufacturing Space with presentations and networking.
  • Planning is underway for International Day of Light. A free community event which takes place at Flandrau Planetarium on May 17 and celebrates the first successful laser operation in 1960 and helps raise awareness of how light-based technologies improve daily life.  Learn more about Optics Valley >>

Women in the Workforce

The WIW committee is continuing their 2026 series of 4 events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the committee. The series theme for this year is “Elevate Yourself”. Next up is Event 2: Generation Gap or Generation Gift? Working Better Together in person on May 1 at The Treasury 1929.
•    Event 3: Leadership & Communication will take place virtually in June.
•    Event 4: 10th Anniversary Celebration will be in person at a local winery.

Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) Program Launches

Arizona’s Office of Resiliency has officially fully launched the HEAR Program, part of the Inflation Reduction Act’s $8.8 billion investment in Home Energy Rebates. This program offers up to $14,000 in point-of-sale rebates for lower- and moderate-income households to purchase high-efficiency appliances and upgrades, including heat pumps, induction stoves, insulation, ventilation, water heaters and more.
