Providing its members and constituents a comprehensive review of Arizona legislative candidates’ positions on the key issues affecting the technology industry, the Arizona Technology Council today released its 2014 Vote TechSmart guide. The planning for this guide started in May with the Arizona Technology Council’s Public Policy Committee developing a legislative candidate survey that was sent to every registered legislative candidate. Over 70 candidates responded to the survey and all candidates that completed the survey were offered an opportunity to be interviewed by the Public Policy Committee during the third week of June. Interviews were held in Phoenix and Tucson with 65 candidates participating.
After the interviews the Committee members used the candidate’s survey responses, interview notes and, for the incumbents, their legislative track record, to determine who would be endorsed by the Council. The Vote TechSmart guide also grades legislators that are running for office again based on their support of the technology industry legislative initiatives over the last two years legislative sessions. They are given a letter grade from A to F in the Tech Hot, Tech Not section of the guide.
