The Arizona SciTech Festival Community Stakeholder Summit is just under one month away, and we are thrilled to announce an incredible lineup of speakers, presentations, workshops, demos, discussions, and more. The event content is intended to provide local leaders and STEM enthusiasts the tools they will need to engage in the 2019 Arizona SciTech Festival in February and March. What Can Attendees Expect?
There is going to be incredible sessions that speak to a wide variety of audiences, so we recommend planning your day in advance to ensure you get the most out of the time! FOMO? Don’t worry—we will do our best to provide access to all the event content following the Summit.
An expert panel comprised of leaders from our K-12 public schools, higher education institutions, businesses, and government sectors will come together to discuss the challenges and opportunities their organizations face when preparing students with Autism for success in the workplace.
Attendees of this session will uncover the disguised learning that we have all observed and experienced as youth and will strategize with experts and peers to better serve schools, classrooms, after-school programs, camps, and more. Presenters will share examples that educators can easily replicate the cognition ignition that occurs when STEM + sports come together!
Those who visit this session will engage in a mini Human Centered Design Process and will learn how this method of teaching drives continuous student learning and improvement by placing an emphasis on self-reflection. Attendees will receive strategies for implementing advanced levels of STEM learning into your classroom, school, or program.
Nanotechnology Education, a learning style developed by the National Science Foundation, helps students understand how a simple material’s “macro behavior” can be used to illuminate key nano concepts. Nano-Link modules and learning outcomes will be presented along with strategies for implementation into your curriculum.
At this breakout session, attendees will learn how implementing coding into K-12 education can help students think logically and practice the application of math in the real-world. A panel of industry experts from Code Ninja will discuss why coding is pivotal to our children’s future.
For Community Advocates
Attend this lunch meetup session for the chance to connect with rural leaders passionate about expanding STEM. AZ SciTech’s Rural Coordinator will lead this informal discussion. Sign up by emailing email@example.com and we will even bring your free lunch directly to your seat!
Join Vice President of Partnerships at STAX3D for tips and tricks to create a successful makerspace for your organization. Session attendees will learn about successful programs to implement once your space is complete and will get insider tips for making the most out the space and equipment you have.
STAX3D will also share insight on creating community tech centers in their presentation, The Evolution of the Makerspace.
For HR + Workforce Dev Professionals
This session will review the incredible new jobs and careers that are opening up through STEM advancements. Many jobs that are done today didn’t even exist 20-30 years ago, and many may change again in our lifetime.
A panel of expert STEM professionals from Intel will share how they are using data to identify current needs in local STEM education to ensure our talent pipeline is prepared for the future.
In this presentation, a human resources consultant from Arizona State University will walk attendees through the DISC personality profile assessment and will discuss ways to utilize the tool to create a more collaborative work environment.
Engineering continues to be a largely male-dominated field with few female mentors for young girls to look up to in the space. Attend this session to hear from real-world female engineers about their experience working in a male-dominated world. Questions are encouraged!

Experts from the Southwest Human Development, Insight, and ACCEL Schools will share how innovators in Assistive Technology (AT) are helping to improve lives of humans with disabilities through IoT-enabled glasses, wheelchairs, exoskeleton systems, + more.
Back by popular demand is the Arizona STEM Talent Show, a fun showcase of local innovators and leaders. Each team has 3-5 minutes for a demo presentation before the audience votes on the winner!
Did you know that the military uses STEM as a core facet of their strategy? From technology to aviation to physics, our nation’s bravest are implementing STEM every day. Join us for this session where Captain Angelo Rossetti, Civil Air Patrol, Arizona Wing Director of Aerospace Education, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary will divulge real-life examples of STEM in our military today.
