TSMC Arizona Achieves ‘Topping’ Milestone on Second Fab
TSMC joined with its construction partners in a “topping out” ceremony — in which the last steel beam was raised into place — on the company’s second semiconductor fab in Phoenix, Arizona. This month, TSMC also completed the topping milestone on the second fab’s auxiliary buildings, which will supply the necessary utilities infrastructure to the fab clean room.
In addition to these important milestones for its second fab, TSMC Arizona continues to make significant progress on the first fab which remains on track to begin high-volume production in the first half of 2025.
Once operational, the two fabs at TSMC Arizona – also called Fab 21 – will manufacture the most advanced semiconductor technology in the U.S., creating 4,500 direct high-tech, high-wage jobs and enabling leadership in the high-performance computing and artificial intelligence era for decades.
Joining the ceremony, TSMC Arizona CEO Y.L. Wang and President Brian Harrison expressed their thanks to the assembled construction trade workers for their tremendous efforts in reaching this successful milestone.
“Our two fabs at TSMC Arizona will manufacture the most advanced semiconductor technology in the U.S., creating 4,500 direct high-tech, high-wage jobs and enabling leadership in the high-performance computing and artificial intelligence era for decades, said Brian Harrison, president of TSMC Arizona. “Today’s topping milestone of our second fab was a momentous occasion for us and our outstanding construction partners. TSMC Arizona would not be possible without the hard work and craftmanship of the nearly 12,000 trade workers on this site each day.”
