SciTech Festival adds horsepower to kick off the 2022 season

LinkedIn

The SciTech Institute is thrilled to be nearing the kickoff of the 2022 Arizona SciTech Festival.

Each year, their dedicated partners work enthusiastically to grow STEM across Arizona – usually in ways you might not expect.

This year is no exception. The SciTech Institute is thrilled to announce that the SciTech Festival season will kick off Jan. 22 from the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction at WestWorld of Scottsdale.

They will be unveiling an entire STEM pavilion from Jan. 22-23 at the world-famous collector car auction. The Pennzoil STEM Fest powered by SciTech Institute at Barrett-Jackson will be complete with more than 40 exhibitor booths, featuring major automakers and electric-vehicle manufacturers showing off their latest cars and technologies, live science activities, a STEM bus, a mobile STEM lab, robotics on other hands-on activities for all ages.

Kicking off the event will be a special ribbon-cutting along with opening remarks from Craig Jackson, the CEO and Chairman of Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega, and Steven G. Zylstra, president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council.

It may not seem obvious, but there is a powerful nexus between the automobile industry and STEM. Mechanics still plays a large role, but cars of today are driven by high technology and engineering innovation.

For example, computer systems and software have revolutionized automobiles. Cars can run on electric power or hybrid fuels. Autonomous vehicles continue to be tested and advanced in Arizona and are inching closer to use in the greater marketplace.

So, it just makes sense that STEM careers in the automotive industry are well-positioned for growth. They’ll even have career counselors and higher-education institutions on hand to enlighten younger generations that are thinking about this career choice.

Our economy is built on STEM, and the SciTech Festival, now in its 11th year, is an innovative way to introduce people of all ages, to current discoveries and future opportunities.

The SciTech Festival is made possible thanks to the collaboration and support of our generous sponsors:
