Several Arizona firms, and AZTC members, make Inc.’s regional list of fast-growing companies

Phoenix Business Journal

Nearly three dozen Arizona companies — all of them in the Valley — have landed on Inc. magazine’s 2024 Southwest Regional list on the way to the final 5000 list.

Leading the way for the Grand Canyon State was Scottsdale-based SoDella Construction, which saw revenue growth of 1,665% from 2020 to 2022 to come in at No. 6 out of the 162 companies on the Southwest list. Three other firms made the top 20: No. 12 Meg Behrens Design of Paradise Valley, which grew by 902% during that same period; No. 13 Gabtech Global LLC (769% growth) of Glendale; and No. 17 Brander Group (640% growth) of Scottsdale.

Brander Group was Inc.’s featured company from the Southwest region, with the magazine highlighting how Jake Brander focused on changing the culture in his IP address brokerage and gaining nearly $200 million in revenue as a result, appearing twice on the Inc. 5000 list.

The complete list includes 1,132 U.S. companies divided into seven regions. Besides the Southwest — which includes Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas — the other regions are Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Northeast, Pacific, Rocky Mountain and Southeast.

Inc. revealed its regionals list in late February, ranking the companies by their revenue growth percentage from 2020 to 2022. The magazine is largely known for its annual Inc. 5000 list, which ranks the fastest-growing companies based on revenue growth over three years. As larger companies implement more layoffs, Inc. said it decided to bring back its regionals list to highlight younger firms, tracking their revenue growth over two years instead.

Arizona’s 33 companies represent almost a fifth of the 162 on the region’s list. Two were based in New Mexico, three in Oklahoma and the rest were from Texas.
