Here’s how Goodyear is leading the way when it comes rooftop solar panels

Goodyear is leading the country when it comes to solar energy, according to a new study.
According to the financial news website MarketWatch, which is a subsidiary of Dow Jones & Company, Goodyear currently has the most solar homes per 100,000 residents in the United States.
According to the study, most residents choose solar energy to save most on energy bills. On average they save $1,432 per year.
The study was conducted by looking at home listings on real estate website Zillow. While Las Vegas has the most solar-powered homes for sale right now, Goodyear has the most solar-powered homes for sale per 100,000 residents.
Goodyear had 57.87 solar energy homes per sale per 100,000 residents. Arizona had three cities in the top 15 when it comes to solar energy homes per 100,000 residents: Surprise came in third place, while Buckeye came in fourth. Surprise had 55.12 solar energy homes per sale per 100,000 residents, while Buckeye had 53.05.
Arizona also had three cities in the top 15 U.S. cities with the most solar home listings overall: Phoenix came in eighth with 108 homes, Tucson was twelfth with 102 homes and Surprise was fourteenth with 84 homes. Las Vegas had the most solar home listings in the country with a total of 287.
While Goodyear doesn’t have any sort of program to incentivize its residents to purchase solar panels, a city spokesperson said its residents are environmentally conscious, having one of the lower rates of water usage per household in the state.
Solar-powered homes seem to spark interest in sunny states like California and Texas. California had over 6,000 solar homes for sale, Texas had about 3,000 and Arizona had about 1,350.
Solar energy is growing throughout the state. Salt River Project and NextEra Energy Resources recently announced the development of a large-scale energy-storage facility that will funnel energy from thousands of solar panels during the day to provide energy in the evening.
In nearby Avondale, the Sierra Estrella energy storage facility will store energy from solar sources that will similarly be used to supply power at peak times.
