Celebrate Arizona Tech Week with us for an unforgettable evening and experience the beauty of Arizona’s night sky through guided stargazing, learn about constellations and celestial events, and connect with fellow space enthusiasts.
The Raymond E. White, Jr. (aka 21-Inch) Telescope in the historic, 103-year old Steward Observatory Dome will be open and you will be able to directly view Jupiter, star clusters, nebula, and galaxies with your own eyes through the White Telescope.
You can also connect your smart phone to a telescope and take images of these objects to take away with you!
We will also have a few, smaller 8-inch telescopes erected on the Mall to view these objects as well.
Whether you’re a seasoned astronomer or simply curious about the universe, this is your chance to slow down, look up, and explore the cosmos.

Steward Observatory is both the century-old observatory on the campus of the University of Arizona and the name of one of the oldest research units of the University. Founded in 1918 through the generosity of Lavinia Steward and the efforts of Andrew Ellicott Douglass, the students, staff, and faculty of Steward Observatory explore the Universe together and share what they learn with the world through the production of scholarships and their educational and outreach efforts.
They are fortunate to have over 180 staff, technicians, and engineers working to develop and operate their world-class research facilities, labs, and observatories. These research capabilities are available to all university students, post-docs, and faculty.
