Relocating to the Tucson area can be especially stressful due to the distinctive uniqueness of the desert environment, and the singularly quirky nature of Tucson’s social and business culture. Moving to Southern Arizona for work can bring excitement and challenge.

But there is no need to face these changes alone. For newly hired, relocated staff members, Proxy Events offers a one-day immersive workshop designed to help newcomers understand our desert home.

Our single-day, 8 hour workshop includes:

9:30-10:30 1 hour Session: Area Culture, History, Indigenous Peoples
10:30-11:30 The Tucson Scene: Hot Spots, Neighborhoods, Hidden Treasures
11:30-12:30 Lunch
12:30-1:00 Walk to the Labyrinth
1:00-2:00 Plants and Animals of the Sonoran Desert: Stickers and Stingers and More
2:00-2:45 Tucson Food Scene and Cooking Lesson with Local Flavor
2:45-3:00 Break
3:00-4:00 Doing Business in Southern Arizona (hint: we are NOT Phoenix!)
4:30-5:00 Get Involved in Your Community: Festivals and Fundraisers
5:00 Optional Reception with Appetizers and 2 drink beer and wine (additional charge)

Participants will meet recently relocated industry leaders and newcomers to staff positions in key sectors.
Participants will gain a wealth of knowledge about their new community, its history, culture, environment, business climate and opportunities for recreation and engagement.

Registrations are taken six weeks in advance and require a $100 refundable deposit. 12 participants maximum are registered for each session.
If the workshop does not fill by the Monday (at 5 pm) preceding the event, all registrations will be either refunded or applied to a future workshop.
