Optics Valley Technical Series: High-Power, Low SWaP Pump Diodes and Their Application in Fiber Amplifiers

Applications for high-power fiber laser systems are diverse. The enabling component of fiber-based laser systems is the pump diode, which converts electrical power to optical. To design a compact package requires high power and efficiency pumps within a small and lightweight package. In this presentation we describe LEI’s high-power, low size and weight pumps, and discuss design considerations for our fiber amplifier system.
