Optics Valley Technical Series: Attaining Quantum Limits of Super-Resolution Imaging with Applications to Astronomy and Microscopy

Register

In this Optics Valley Technical Series webinar presented by Dr. Saikat Guha, attendees will learn more about attaining quantum limits of super-resolution imaging and the applications to Astronomy and Microscopy.  Dr. Guha is a Professor at the University of Arizona, James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences, and the director of the NSF-ERC Center for Quantum Networks (CQN).

About the Presenter:

Saikat Guha is a Professor at the University of Arizona, James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences, and the director of the NSF-ERC Center for Quantum Networks (CQN). Saikat received his Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1998, and his S.M. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2004 and 2008, respectively. From 2008 to 2017, he worked for Raytheon BBN Technologies, where in his most recent role as Lead Scientist, he led various sponsored projects funded by DARPA, ONR, NSF, DoE, and ARL, in topics surrounding quantum enhanced photonic information processing. He was one of the founding members of the Quantum Information Processing group at BBN, formed in 2009. He joined the University of Arizona in 2017.

The Center for Quantum Networks aims to lay the foundations of the quantum internet, which will revolutionize how humankind computes, communicates and senses the world by creating a fabric to connect quantum computers, data centers and gadgets using their native quantum information states of “quantum bits,” or qubits.

Through a 2020 grant from the National Science Foundation, the University of Arizona leads this National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center – the Center for Quantum Networks – with core partners Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Yale University.

Optics Valley, a committee of the Arizona Technology Council, is one of the leading clusters for optics, photonics and astronomy in the world. Optics Valley’s mission is to catalyze, convene and connect optics, photonics, astronomy and the supporting business interests throughout Arizona.
