If you are just starting your career or if you have been in your position for a while and are wondering what’s next, our first Women in the Workforce event is for you.

Katie Schwertz, a Senior Design Engineer with Edmund Optics, will share real-life strategies she has used to advance her career. She’ll speak about how to evaluate your value in an organization and how to avoid common missteps that early career professionals make.

Topics will include:

  • How to build confidence and address things you don’t know
  • Strategies to establish yourself in a new company or position
  • How to negotiate a raise or promotion

This will be a discussion with the audience and questions will be encouraged.

About our Presenter:

Katie Schwertz is a Senior Design Engineer for Edmund Optics where she is responsible for the rapid development of optical and mechanical designs within the Tucson Design Center. She has a B.S. in Optics from the University of Rochester and an M.S. in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona. She also holds various volunteer positions within the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) and the Arizona Technology Council advocating for the optics community and gender equity.
