When Avnet Inc. CEO Phil Gallagher walks down the halls of Avnet’s new Tempe headquarters, he sees a modern open office space that fosters collaboration among the company’s employees.

Avnet’s new headquarters reinforces the global electronics component distributor’s commitment to remaining an Arizona-based company — and its role in the technology supply chain, Gallagher said.

Avnet (Nasdaq: AVT) spent a year renovating the 156,000-square-foot office building for its new global headquarters at 2150 E. Warner Road in ASU Research Park. The company moved from its longtime Phoenix headquarters into the two-story building last month.

“I think the real plus moving forward is to provide an environment where people feel good about where they work and the technology that they have to work with,” Gallagher said. “We have a defined culture of collaboration, people and teamwork, and this building really just magnifies that.”

More than 500 of Avnet’s employees work from the building, including the company’s finance, executive leadership and Americas teams.

The building features an open floor plan with an executive area, several meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, a “Zen Den,” a fitness center, coffee bar and a cafeteria that opens up to a large patio with basketball, volleyball and pickleball courts.

“We can do a town hall in the cafeteria, and every screen around the building will be showing the same slides,” Gallagher said. “A lot of the cubicles came with (the building) too. They’re nice and low so people can collaborate more.”

Prior to Avnet, the building served as GoDaddy’s corporate headquarters until April 2024, when the company relocated to 100 Mill in downtown Tempe.

Avnet had occupied its current 180,000-square-foot headquarters at 2211 S. 47th Street in Phoenix since 1997, but the company’s lease expired this year and it “was just time” to make the move to an updated office space, Gallagher previously told the Business Journal.

“So then we started to look. It was a great location right next to the airport, but this (Tempe) location is actually going to be better,” Gallagher said. “There’s more around it. It’s right off the freeway. We now have Onsemi, Microchip and Intel right down the street.”

Although Avnet did not disclose how much it paid for its new corporate headquarters in Tempe, it reported capital expenditures of $60 million in its fourth fiscal quarter of 2025, some of which was allocated to the purchase of an office building, according to the company.

In addition to its Tempe headquarters, Avnet also operates a 231,450-square-foot global solutions center at 6700 W. Morelos Place and a 400,000-square-foot logistics center at 60 S. McKemy Ave. in Chandler, the Business Journal previously reported.

Avnet’s new headquarters represents the company’s loyalty to Arizona, where it employs more than 1,200 people as the state’s second largest public company. The company has more than 15,000 employees worldwide, according to Business Journal research.

“I think it’s a statement that Avnet not going anywhere,” Gallagher said of the company’s Tempe headquarters. “The Valley has been good to us.”

Avnet opens new HQ amid growth in key business segments

Avnet’s new headquarters move comes a month after the company reported record-breaking sales for the fourth fiscal quarter, driven by growth across all key business segments.

Avnet generated $8.3 billion in revenue during fiscal Q4 that ended June 27, a 48% increase over the prior-year quarter. In addition, Avnet reported $27.6 billion in sales for the full year in fiscal 2026, a 25% increase over the prior year.

Investments that support AI are accelerating demand for power management, connectivity, automation and other enabling technologies across a wide range of applications, increasing overall semiconductor and component content across the markets Avnet serves, Gallagher said during the company’s Aug. 5 earnings call.

The company is also expanding its engagements with a growing number of original equipment manufacturers in data center infrastructure, networking and transportation.

Avnet’s market performance is closely tied to the global electronics distribution sector, semiconductor supply cycles and industrial demand. As a major distributor of electronic components, its financial performance may react to component lead times, inventory movement by manufacturers and sectors like artificial intelligence infrastructure, automotive electronics and data centers.

“I’m very optimistic about the future,” Gallagher said. “The semiconductor industry could be cyclical, but we feel very positive about the future, and we feel even more positive about our position in that center of technology.”
