Electric vehicle maker Lucid fills leadership ranks with new CFO, 3 other executives

Recently-departed Waymo executive Sherry House is joining luxury electric vehicle startup Lucid Motors as chief financial officer, Lucid announced Wednesday.

House, who had been with Waymo since 2017 and in her current role as treasurer and head of investor relations since August 2020, joins Lucid at a key period. The company—which has its headquarters in Newark, California and a manufacturing facility in Casa Grande in Pinal County south of Phoenix—said in February it was merging with special-purpose acquisition company Churchill Capital IV Corp. in the largest SPAC ever in the electric vehicle space.

Along with House’s announcement, Lucid also hired three other executives:

  • Margaret Burgraff, vice president of software validation. She joins Lucid after being vice president of global developer relations at Intel.
  • Sanjay Chandra, vice president of information technology. Chandra has spent the last eight years as chief information officer and head of cloud operations at TiVo/Xperi.
  • Jeff Curry, vice president of marketing and communications. Most recently, Curry was vice president of the Jaguar brand. He has been a consultant on Lucid brand’s marketing and go-to-market strategy since December 2019.

The executives are joining Lucid as its merger with Churchill Capital IV Corp. is headed for its close after a volatile period. Short-sellers have bought up big positions in Churchill Capital IV, betting its stock (NYSE:CCIV) will continue to go down. In late April, short-selling analytics firm S3 Partners said that it was the SPAC with the largest short-selling increase among the 885 that it tracks.
