City of Avondale Announces Promotion of Jennifer Stein to Assistant City Manager

Jennifer Stein, who joined the City of Avondale as Economic Development Director in 2024, has been promoted to Assistant City Manager. In her new role, Stein will continue to play a key leadership role in advancing the city’s strategic initiatives while overseeing critical operational areas that support Avondale’s continued growth and success.

Stein brings more than 25 years of experience in communications, marketing, and strategic planning to her expanded position. Since joining Avondale, she has led efforts in business attraction, development, retention, and expansion, helping to foster economic growth and enhance residents’ quality of life.

Prior to her time in Avondale, Stein served as Economic Development Director for the City of Peoria, where she led award-winning public affairs, marketing, and tourism campaigns and helped attract prominent restaurant and hospitality developments. She also held leadership roles with the City of Glendale, where she was instrumental in promoting major events such as the Super Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and BCS Championship.

“Jennifer is a highly accomplished professional with a proven track record in building impactful community and business partnerships,” said Avondale City Manager Ron Corbin. “Her leadership has already advanced the City Council’s vision for economic development, and we are confident she will continue to make a significant impact in her new role as Assistant City Manager.”

In addition to her public sector experience, Stein has a strong background in media, having worked as a news producer at KTVK-TV and as a senior account executive at HMA Public Relations. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Northern Arizona University.

Stein is an active member of the Arizona Association for Economic Development, the International Economic Development Council, and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). She also serves on the GPEC Board, where she chairs the economic development committee.
