Message from the CEO
It is more critical now than ever before that we take a stand and demand institutional change across the nation. Racism that exists today in all forms is not acceptable. Our thoughts are with all of those impacted by the tragedy in Minneapolis, as well as the countless other lives lost, as we continue to take a stand and fight for equality.
The future of Arizona and its economy lies in our entrepreneurial spirit and thriving technology sector. In our 2019 Annual Report, The Future of Tech in AZ, we highlight the impact the Council and SciTech Institute had across legislation, education, job training, health care and the community. Please review View the report to learn about the committees, initiatives, programs and services designed to support and advance Arizona’s science and technology community.
Pivoting in response to the public health crisis, the Arizona Technology Council has worked hard to help Council members and the community at large to stay connected and engaged. From virtual tech events, leadership roundtables and bootcamps, to amping up public policy efforts and launching a laptop donation drive for Arizona students, together we are strengthening Arizona’s business and technology community for a brighter tomorrow.

Many Arizona tech companies and organizations already have rolled up their sleeves and are taking action. But this is no surprise to those who know that innovation and compassion are traits of Arizona’s technology community.
Although we are now working remotely, the Council’s team is more dedicated than ever to supporting the development, growth and advancement of science- and technology-driven companies in Arizona, fostering a climate of creativity and community for its members, and strengthening the state as an innovation hub.
Agile. It’s a term we use in technology to describe the groups who have everyone and everything needed to get a new product out the door. Is that even possible when you’re by yourself facing what could be one of the most stressful situations in a generation? Arizona Technology Council CEO Steve Zylstra offers timely work advice during this critical time to stay productive, connected and sane.
There was a time when securing risk capital was an elusive desire of many technology firms in Arizona. They knew they wanted it. They along with observers like me knew they needed it. Fortunately, the needle is moving in the right direction.
You don’t have to be a gearhead like me to know we’re at the front end of the trend moving the state into a new vehicle arena. For those wondering whether an electric car is for them, know that over time Lucid Motors will offer a range of vehicles at different price points as they build on their successes. And that’s just one auto maker.
