Barker Contracting, Inc. announces three key leadership appointments

Barker Contracting, Inc., an ENR Southwest Top Contractor, has announced three key leadership appointments effective immediately. The appointments, all new positions, are:

  • Megan Magee, chief operations officer
  • Riley Rasmussen, project director
  • Brian Lepker, project director, Travel Division

The company’s founder, Brian Barker, will continue in his role as president.

The new key leadership appointments will ensure that as the company grows, the infrastructure is in place to keep the culture consistent with Barker’s founding vision and true to its mission. Said Barker, “My original business plan included a focus on trust, reliability, honor and quality. Appointing these new leaders, all of whom have been with me since early in their careers, will guarantee the consistency I want in how we treat each other, our clients and our vendors.”

All three leaders are under the age of 43 ensuring lasting leadership continuity and a long and rewarding future with Barker Contracting.

In her new role as COO, Magee will be focusing on elevating operational effectiveness and efficiency to best run and grow the business.

Magee has worked in the construction industry for more than 20 years. Having started at the age of 15 in her father’s construction office, building is an intrinsic part of her nature. She has considerable experience in retail buildings, as well as restaurant and office facilities. Megan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management from Northern Arizona University and is a certified professional constructor through the American Institute of Constructors.

As project director for Contracting, Riley Rasmussen will support and provide oversight to project managers and collaborate on business development and marketing initiatives.

Rasmussen, a fourth-generation builder, said of his goals, “I want to make sure we are consistently delivering great projects on budget and schedule with little risk and conflict.”

Rasmussen studied construction management at Brigham Young University for two years, then graduated with honors from the University of Washington, earning a bachelor’s degree in urban development. He has successfully delivered high-profile, high-stake projects for both government and commercial clients.

As project director of Barker’s out-of-state division, Brian Lepker will optimize project delivery in areas outside of Arizona. He will focus on further developing subcontractor relationships, enhancing existing partnerships and creating new clients.

Over the 20+ years he has been working in construction, Lepker’s calm, professional and dedicated nature has translated into quality results his clients appreciate. He meets and often exceeds project needs, including frequently demanding standards in quality, specifications and budget adherence. He has completed numerous projects with fast-track schedules. Lepker’s experience is commercial and varied, including medical, industrial, manufacturing and retail facilities.

Brian said, “I want to capitalize on all of the work that we have done to get licensed and set up to do business in over 30 states. I intend to expand our company’s roster of national clientele and to continue to make sure that our relationship with our current national clients stays rock solid.”
