Arizona Public Service launches Going Green + Going Smart program

Web-based sustainability training promotes energy efficiency, conservation and ways to save

Arizona Public Service Co. (APS) announced the launch of its Going Green & Going Smart Program, a free, virtual training portal that helps small business owners adopt sustainable business practices that save money, energy and attract environmentally minded consumers.

The Going Green & Going Smart Program is a statewide community effort that puts valuable sustainability resources and energy insights into the hands of small business owners across Arizona. APS partnered with the Compass CBS Foundation to design the program and develop content, which can be accessed at greenbizaz.com.

“At APS, we are imagining a world powered by 100% clean energy, and we are committed to doing our part to help small businesses across Arizona,” said Stacy Derstine, APS Vice President of External Affairs. “We are excited about the community collaboration that developed this program and that will bring knowledge and savings to business owners throughout the state.”

The program includes pre-recorded sessions with sustainability experts and an on-demand certificate program that teaches step-by-step how to implement sustainable business practices. Through video lessons, downloadable materials, and knowledge checks, participants will be able to access online resources offering insights from other statewide sustainability programs and APS Solutions for Business rebate information.

“We see the Going Green & Going Smart program as a great way to help small businesses return from the impacts of COVID-19 stronger and greener than ever,” said Ray Brooks, APS Strategic Partnerships program manager. “We are grateful for the expertise provided by Compass CBS to help us inspire small business owners interested in implementing simple and affordable strategies to reduce waste, save money and grow their bottom line.”

A complete schedule of expert sessions is now available on the program website. Arizona business owners also can enroll in the on-demand certificate program, where in less than 60 minutes, they will learn how to create sustainable business marketing plans, apply for rebates, and gain other valuable knowledge to capture savings while reducing their carbon footprint. Upon completion of the training, small business owners will receive a Going Green & Going Smart certificate to display at their businesses or on their websites.

APS serves more than 1.3 million homes and businesses in 11 of Arizona’s 15 counties, and is a leader in delivering affordable, clean and reliable energy in the Southwest. The company is committed to serving customers with 100% clean power by 2050. As owner and operator of Palo Verde Generating Station, the nation’s largest producer of carbon-free electricity, and with one of the country’s most substantial renewable energy portfolios, APS’s current energy mix is 50% clean. With headquarters in Phoenix, APS is the principal subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp. (NYSE: PNW).
