Lucid Motors broke a Guinness world record last weekend in Europe when a Grand Touring car achieved the longest recorded journey for an electric vehicle on a single charge.

The Grand Touring 1 vehicle covered 749 miles without charging, with the run taking place in the area of St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Munich, Germany. The route featured alpine roads, highways and secondary roads. The latest achievement betters the previous record, also held by Lucid Motors, by 99.41 miles, set in June 2025.

In a press statement Eric Bach, senior vice president of product and chief engineer at Lucid Motors, said the record-breaking run by the Grand Touring model represents a high level of technical innovation.

“This range record represents a significant milestone — it’s yet another clear demonstration of the technological edge that defines Lucid,” Bach said.

“Our Lucid products combine world class vehicle efficiency with the most advanced drive units, ultra-high voltage architecture and battery management technology available today, which lets a Lucid travel further with less energy than any other vehicles.”

The Lucid Motors Grand Touring 1 sedan can seat up to five passengers and can reach a top speed of 167 miles per hour. The vehicle’s battery can be quickly charged providing 248 miles of range in just 16 minutes.

The run was piloted by London-based entrepreneur Umit Sabanci, who in partnership with Lucid Motors has already broken other Guinness world records. In 2024, Sabanci broke the record for the most countries visited on a single charge in a production battery electric vehicle, crossing nine countries, also in a Lucid Air Grand Touring vehicle.

Sabanci stated that he is proud to be associated with Lucid Motors and its electric car technologies.

“When I completed the nine-country journey in 2024, it was just the beginning,” he said. “This new achievement takes that journey even further. I’m proud to be part of a movement that proves electric mobility isn’t just the future; it’s already redefining what’s possible today.”

Recently Lucid Motors opened a new facility in Phoenix that is tied to its Pinal County factories in Casa Grande and Coolidge, with the company ramping up production for its new Gravity model. The starting price for the Gravity will be $79,900, and it is expected to be available for public orders later this year.

The Guinness world record concept has acknowledged feats since 1955 and has become a trusted and recognized source for highlighting extraordinary achievements in a wide variety of endeavors.
