Northern Arizona Solar Launches Co-op
The nonprofit group Solar United Neighbors (SUN) recently announced the launch of the Northern Arizona Solar Co-op to help residents in Sedona, Flagstaff, and Coconino County purchase solar. By joining the free co-op, homeowners and business owners in the three areas learn about solar energy and together leverage their buying power to purchase individual solar systems at a discounted group price.
“If you’ve ever thought about going solar, now’s your chance,” said Arizona Program Director Adrian Keller, Solar United Neighbors. “By joining the solar co-op you’re partnering with solar experts and your neighbors to get a good deal on a solar installation for your home.”
Joining the solar co-op is not a commitment to make a purchase. Co-op members will have the option to individually purchase panels and electric vehicle chargers based on the installer’s group rate.After a competitive bidding process facilitated by SUN, co-op members will select a single solar company to complete the installations. SUN provides guidance on the process but remains vendor neutral, empowering the co-op members to decide.
“The city of Sedona is excited to partner with Solar United Neighbors, the city of Flagstaff, and Coconino County for the 2024 Northern Arizona Solar Co-op,” said Sustainability Coordinator Zach Schwarz, city of Sedona. “Solar installations are a great way to reduce emissions and utility costs while improving home resiliency. The co-op provides an opportunity for residents to come together from across northern Arizona, directly choose a provider, and take climate action.”
SUN will host several free informational sessions to educate community members about solar energy and the solar co-op. Individuals interested in going solar can sign up for the co-op at www.solarunitedneighbors.org/northernaz or learn more at one of the upcoming informational sessions listed below.

This marks the fourth solar co-op SUN has hosted in the region. It has helped more than 150 residents go solar since 2021.
