Need some extra hands for projects this summer and fall? West-MEC and South Mountain Community College have been awarded an Science Foundation Arizona Grant for middle-skill internships.
Career service coaches at West-MEC in the IT/Cyber Program and IT/Cyber Faculty at South Mountain Community College are working hard to connect their students to industry partners to help the students gain hands on experiences to better prepare them to become future industry professional in cybersecurity.
Through a grant from the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, West-MEC and South Mountain Community College have been awarded an Science Foundation Arizona Grant for middle-skill internships. This grant provides funding to 20 students 20 students — a $1,000 stipend upon successful completion of an 80-hour internship over the summer or fall of 2019. The grant funding also provides a coordinator to work with the company and the school and students.
As an internship site, organizations would provide a mentor for the student to work with to complete assigned projects that help to build the students’ skills in the agreed upon areas by the internship host organization/student. Each internship host will have the opportunity to be involved in the selection of the student(s) to serve at their site.
