The Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program allows almost 800,000 young, undocumented immigrants—the DREAMERS—to work and study without fearing deportation. These Dreamers grew up in the United States, have registered with our government, submitted extensive background checks, and have been contributing to our economy and paying their taxes. More stats on Dreamers:
- 97% are in school or working
- 72% of the top 25 Fortune 500 companies are employing DACA recipients
- 65% own a vehicle
- 16% own a home
- 5% own their own business
The DACA Program is now in grave peril of being disbanded. If this occurs, 780,000 hardworking dreamers will lose their ability to work legally in this country and will be in immediate threat of deportation.
