Although Arizona small businesses owners are using social media, they still lag slightly behind the overall pace in the West and the nation overall, according to the Spring American Express OPEN Small Business Monitor.
While 57 percent of small business owners in the state use social media, 60 percent of those in the West and 58 percent in the nation report being users. In Arizona, 42 percent of the owners say the main reason for using it is to drive sales while 29 percent say it has helped their firms survive in a challenging economy.
The survey also touched on use of data. In this state, 60 percent of the small business owners reported analyzing customer or other data for their businesses and 73 percent see the value of analysis to better reach customers.
