Grand Canyon University (GCU) will host the inaugural FIRST Arizona West Regional Competition for high school robotics teams at its Phoenix campus. The dates will be April 1-4.
Teams will be judged on design excellence, sportsmanship and teamwork during the free event that will be open to the public. The contest wraps up six weeks during which the teams are assigned a problem and use the same kit of parts and standard set of rules.
The existing regional event has been renamed the FIRST Arizona East Regional Competition and will held March 19-21 at Hamilton High School in Chandler. Winning teams can advance to the FIRST World Championship in St. Louis in April 2015.
