Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce celebrates 75 years of excellence

The Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 75th year of promoting and supporting business in Scottsdale.

On March 6th, 1947, the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce incorporated under then President Wes Segner. The city had a population of just over 2,000.  The Chamber urged Scottsdale businesses to build or remodel buildings with Western-type architecture to amplify the town’s unique character and adopted the slogan “The West’s Most Western Town.”

A lot has changed in Scottsdale in 75 years. The population is now over 250,000, and the Chamber has over 1,000 members, but one constant has been the Chamber’s endless drive to make Scottsdale a great place to live and do business.

According to Mark Stanton, Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, the Chamber’s future is as bright as its legacy. “The Chamber has been a part of positive change in Scottsdale since its inception, paving the first streets, creating a character for the city, establishing the Jaycees, the CVB, the Charros, Scottsdale Leadership, and so much more.” said Stanton. “But the drive to drive to guide Scottsdale into a positive future has never been stronger, and we feel responsible to those who built our legacy to grow upon their work and make our own legacy even brighter.”

As a legacy to their 75th Anniversary celebration, the Chamber is producing a 75th Anniversary Commemorative Book featuring a history of the Chamber and its seminal accomplishments. The Chamber invites Chamber Members past and present, as well as members of Scottsdale’s Business Community to be a part of this legacy publication by securing a tribute ad in the book, a copy of which will be placed in the Scottsdale Historical Society’s archives. “We’ve had a blast celebrating our anniversary over the course of 2022,” said Stanton. “The book is a labor of love in conjunction with Joan Fudala, Scottsdale Historian, and it outlines the deep and significant impact the Chamber has had in Scottsdale. It motivates us to make the next 25 years even more impactful”

The Chamber encourages supporters to have fun with their tribute ads by reaching back into their advertising archives or doing a “Then and Now” theme.
