Pediatric healthcare is headed to a higher level at Phoenix Children’s Hospital as a new partnership will tackle serious illnesses with state state-of-the-art genomic and proteomic technology to tailor diagnoses, treatments and cures.
The other partner in the Chan Soon-Shiong Children’s Precision Medicine Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital is Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, founder of Nantworks, which already applies the same types of technology to treat adults. The hospital will be the exclusive national hub for pediatric genomic research and translational precision medicine.
At the core of the institute’s work will be one of the few supercomputers in the nation that can perform faster genomic sequencing and analysis. Using cloud-based technology and artificial intelligence, young patients will receive undergo genome sequencing and proteomics analysis in seven days.
