Nextiva set to start work on building new Valley HQ campus

Scottsdale-based business communications company Nextiva is getting set to build a new campus to support its expanding business. With more than 1,000 employees across its footprint, it was time for the growing company to look at a long-term expansion strategy.

“As a company grows, [having to expand] is a great problem to have,” said Tomas Gorny, Nextiva CEO and co-founder.

The 100,000-square-foot facility will be a place to foster innovation and a “functional and inviting home where creative people can innovate,” Gorny added. The building’s design will allow it to be a space focused on collaboration. The building is expected to be completed by first-quarter 2021. That’s when Nextiva’s more than 700 local employees will move over from the company’s existing space of about 75,000 square feet at 8800 E. Chaparral Road to the new space.

Work on the campus is underway at 9451 E. Vía de Ventura. Before the building even takes shape, Gorny said he hopes it will only be the first in another long-term expansion, considering Nextiva already has secured rights for an adjacent space to build a second facility, he said.

Gorny, who was a finalist for Phoenix Business Journal’s 2019 C-suite awards, said his vision for the future of Nextiva includes more innovation and automation.

“We started from humble beginnings. We got our first client in 2008 and now have over 1,000 team members,” he said.

Nextiva cracked the 2019 annual ranking from Deloitte of the fastest-growing public and private technology companies in North America, with 174% revenue growth between 2015 and 2018. Based on the number of software engineers it employs, Nextiva also ranks No. 1 on the Business Journal’s list of the region’s largest software companies.
