ASU + U of A Named Among University Patent Leaders
Arizona State University and The University of Arizona have been named to the report “Top 100 Worldwide Universities Granted U.S. Utility Patents 2017.” The report ranks the universities named as the first assignee on utility patents granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office during the 2017 calendar year.
ASU was credited with 100 patents last year, tying with Purdue Research Foundation for No. 17 position. UA had 27 patents for the same period, tying for No. 94 with Osaka University.
The rankings have been compiled annually by the National Academy of Inventors and Intellectual Property Owners Association since 2013 to highlight the vital role patents play in university research and innovation.
CyrusOne Announces Plans for 2nd Major Arizona Data Center
CyrusOne, a global data center, has purchased more than 68 acres in the Mesa Elliot Technology Park for the development of a new data center cloud campus for the Fortune 1000.
When completed, the campus will have five building facilities offering up to 198 megawatts of power.
CyrusOne entered the Phoenix metro area with it first campus in 2012. It operates 45 data center facilities across the United States, Europe and Asia to provide customers with the flexibility and scale to match their specific IT growth needs.
WebPT Debuts on Elite Health Care IT List
Phoenix-based WebPT, the leading rehab therapy software platform, has debuted on the renowned Healthcare Informatics 100, a ranking of the top health care information technology companies operating in the United States.
WebPT was named No. 97, thanks to its significant growth trajectory. Consideration to appear on the elite list is based on revenues from the most recent fiscal year, when the top revenue ranges for companies on the list increased from $7.3 billion to $8.1 billion.

Two Scottsdale-based Arizona Technology Council member companies were named 2018 Stevie Award winners by the American Business Awards, the nation’s premier business awards program open to all organizations — public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small — operating in the United States.
EpiFinder, a health care software solutions and a neuro-spectrum differentiation company, was named a winner of Silver Stevie Awards in the Tech Startup of the Year – Software and Startup of the Year – Business Services Industries categories.
GPS Insight, a leading provider of tailored GPS tracking and E-Log solutions for commercial and government fleets, won a Bronze Stevie Award for Customer Service Department of the Year – Software category.
Polsinelli Cited for Brand Strength
