In partnership with Coplex, the Arizona Technology Council has launched the TechConnect AZ Podcast in an effort to share the incredible accomplishments of AZTC members and Arizona tech innovators in an easily-consumable, convenient format. In our July 2018 episode, we are joined by Zach Ferres, CEO of Coplex, a Top 7 Startup Accelerator that helps non-coding, industry experts start successful tech companies.
Both ventures feature mobile applications offering on-demand services, with Qwick in the food + beverage space and Priizm in personal coaching. Mary Meeker recently reported a 3x faster workforce growth in on-demand services in her recent 2018 Internet Trends Report.
Zach shares his thoughts on the lean startup model, explains the difference between accelerators and incubators, and gives a brief history on how Coplex got to where they are today.
“The lean startup approach is all about the reduction of waste in bringing a product to market,” Zach explains. “At the core of the process is the scientific method.”
Jamie and Meghan both give information about their startup companies, share their experience going through Coplex’s program, how they came up with their idea, and what’s next for Qwick and Priizm.
“You need a team,” says Meghan. “And that’s not your cousin. Business ideas deserve more than nighttime and weekend warriors to thrive.”
“They call it the startup roller coaster for a reason,” Jamie notes. “There are a lot of high high’s and a lot of low low’s.”
