Arizona Health-e Connection (AzHeC) and Health Information Network of Arizona (HINAz), two groups at the forefront of moving healthcare information into a new era of technology, are now formally affiliated and will operate under the AzHeC umbrella.
AzHeC was launched in 2007 to drive the advancement of health information technology (HIT) and health information exchange (HIE) in the state. In its new role, AzHeC will be charged with handling policy development, education and various HIT/HIE programs such as the Arizona Regional Extension Center,
HINAz itself resulted from the 2010 merger of two regional health information groups to support the secure exchange of health information throughout Arizona. It now will serve as the electronic network that connects healthcare providers through the statewide health information exchange.
