Final Countdown to GDPR: What You Need to Know and Do Now (If You Haven’t Already)

On May 25, 2018, the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) goes into effect. The Arizona Technology Council’s Law & Technology Committee will present a practical overview regarding the GDPR to help you review what new requirements may apply to your business, and what steps you need to take right now to comply.

If you are an international business, you undoubtedly have heard much about this new regulation and how it dramatically changes the landscape of data privacy protections. But even if your U.S. company doesn’t have a presence in the European Union (EU) and doesn’t regularly conduct business there, you should still review the regulation’s potential application and impact. The scope of the GDPR, with its downstream implications on supply chains and vendors, is sweeping, and the potential penalties for violations are staggeringly high. Even if you don’t foresee an immediate impact on your business, you would be well served to know the practical basics about this new regulation.
