Institute for Data Science and Big Data

American University will hold the 2021 Institute for Data Science and Big Data online, which is geared to working professionals looking to upgrade their data science skills. The institute will cover the basics of data science, including obtaining relevant data, cleaning and exploring data, creating models, stating inferences, making reliable predictions, and communicating findings. The course consists of a mixture of lectures, guest speakers, and group assignments. It will take place over 9 working days, 9 AM to 5 PM EST.

The guest lectures include data science leaders from Washington’s unparalleled mixture of government, academia, and business. Statistical topics include: exploratory methods, graphics, regression, machine learning, ensembles, clustering analysis, and Bayesian approaches. Specific technical skills including: R, Python, Pandas, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, API Interactions, Social Media Mining, SQL, Tableau, GitHub, and more.
