Sunnyside Unified School District and Pima County JTED are proud to partner with business and industry to ensure high school students are college and career ready.
At this after5 attendees will tour Desert View High school to learn more about the iSTEM Academy and Precision Manufacturing program. These programs have been providing students life-changing opportunities through hands-on technical education and real-world internships with local manufacturers. Students can also earn number of industry certificates that prepare them to enter the workforce directly from high school and give them a head start at earning an Associate’s Degree.
Desert View’s iSTEM Academy and Precision Manufacturing program provides a life-changing opportunity for high school students. With the support of the Southern Arizona Manufacturing Partners and the Pima County One Stop, students earn paid internships, industry certifications, and college credit from Pima Community College. This real-world learning prepares students for numerous opportunities post high school. The industry certificates address areas in 3D Design from Solid Works and Mastercam as well as from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) as Desert View is a NIMS Nationally Accredited program. This Desert View Pima JTED program has been recognized at both the state and national level as an exemplary program, preparing students to enter directly into the work force and well on their way to industry recognized credentials and/or an Associate’s Degree.
