Already known for its fast Internet speeds, Cox Communications will begin deploying new technology that allows new and existing Phoenix, Las Vegas and Omaha neighborhoods to have gigabit speeds. Plans call for all Cox markets to start a nationwide rollout of gigabit speeds by the end of 2016.
Also, Cox Preferred tier customers’ Internet speeds this year will increase from 25 megabits per second to 50 megabits per second while Premier tier speeds will jump from 50 megabits per second to 100 megabits per second.
By the end of this year, Cox also will begin its metropolitan Wi-Fi service in high-traffic areas such as restaurants, parks and sports arenas. Also, partnerships with other cable companies will let Cox customers access 250,000 Wi-Fi hotspots nationwide.
