The Arizona Technology Council is grateful for the leadership from Governor Ducey and every member of the Arizona legislature, who overcame political differences and joined together to prioritize a critical education opportunity for Arizona students.
Arizona’s career and technical education programs, administered by Joint Technology Education Districts (JTEDs), provide a foundation that prepares students for quality careers and establishes a path of success for students in every region of the state. These programs were poised to lose their funding due to the state’s past budget crisis, but this week our state leaders used resources from our rebounding economy to provide $29 million for the schools. Their cooperation and quick action mean these funds will be seamless, and even temporary cuts to the programs have been avoided.
Investment in Arizona’s education programs is essential to economic and societal success. We all benefit from state leaders who demonstrated their dedication both to our students and to the businesses that rely on a highly-trained workforce. Arizona Technology Council members have been critical allies in the effort to communicate the importance of investment in our students, and this victory for JTED funding is evidence that your efforts are advancing good public policy in our state.
