Phoenix-based Avnet, a global technology distributor, has placed No. 117 on the 2014 Fortune 500 list of largest U.S. companies, marking its 46th year in a row for being named to the prestigious rankings.
Companies appearing on the list are slotted by total revenues in their fiscal years. For Avnet, that meant $25.5 billion in sales in fiscal 2013. By comparison, the company placed 467th in 1968 with revenue a little more than $146 million.
Separately, Avnet was named to the 2014 CIO 100 in recognition of its continued development of its data storage management system, which significantly lowered backup and recovery times and improved business continuity capabilities for its main North American data center. CIO magazine created the list.
