2023 Arizona SciTech Festival set to kick off

Sensory-stimulating science experiments. Awe-inspiring robots. Automated vehicle advancements. Sustainable farming innovations. Life-science breakthroughs.

Arizonans of all ages will be able to experience all of this and much more at the 2023 Arizona SciTech Festival, the state’s annual celebration of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The Festival is set to kick off Saturday, Jan. 21, from the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction at WestWorld of Scottsdale, where attendees can enjoy a STEM pavilion, exhibitor booths, automobiles, electric vehicles and more.

The annual celebration, which will run through April, ranks as the nation’s third-largest science festival, featuring more than 800 organizations and 2,300 events.

The Festival is made possible by the foundational support of the Arizona Commerce Authority, Arizona Science Center, SciTech Institute, Arizona Board of Regents, The University of Arizona and Arizona State University.

“What began as a grassroots effort has developed into a premier science festival where industry experts, innovators, scientists and entrepreneurs are excited to showcase their discoveries to the public,” said Steven G.  Zylstra, president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council and SciTech Institute. “We aim to energize our youth, motivate people of all ages and activate more investment in our economy through this vibrant STEM ecosystem.”

“The Arizona SciTech Festival represents a unique platform for engaging Arizona’s future scientists and technology leaders while increasing STEM education opportunities,” said Sandra Watson, president and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “The ACA has been proud to be a foundational partner of the Festival for over a decade and we look forward to the many exciting events this spring.”

The festival offers abundant opportunities for kids, teens and adults to explore STEM across the state through interactive events, workshops, exhibitions, displays, lectures and tours. Best of all, SciTech events are free!

“As a long-standing sponsor of the Arizona SciTech Festival, Cox Communications understands the importance of furthering the growth of our STEM culture in Arizona and encourages STEM-based education for students of all ages,” said Susan Anable, Cox Communications Phoenix Market Vice President. “By investing in efforts like the SciTech Festival, we can inspire students to explore STEM careers, and help create a brighter future for our communities.”

“The SciTech Festival will reach and inspire hundreds of thousands of Arizonans,” said Dr. Jeremy Babendure, executive director of the SciTech Institute. “The Festival not only helps elevate potential STEM career opportunities for youth, but also reinforces Arizona’s leadership position as the high-tech hub of the U.S.”
