Our Name
A recent study by a well known research firm showed that 80% of all mission critical IT service downtime is the result of “people and process” failures – only 20% collectively results from software glitches, hardware failures, natural disasters, etc. We believe that reliable software and hardware is essential, but as a consulting firm specializing in people and process issues, our solutions focus on the other 80% - Beyond20.
Key Individuals
Erika Flora, MS, PMP, ITIL Expert
Erika Flora began her career as a Project Manager and made the leap to IT in 2003 when she led an Enterprise Project Management (EPM) system and established business processes for a growing pharmaceutical company in Tempe. Since then, she has led multiple EPM and IT Service Management (ITSM) system implementations and process improvement programs for both large and small organizations. Erika is one of the co-founders of Beyond20 and is a seasoned instructor and consultant. Most recently, she also became an adjunct professor for San Diego State University. She is a skilled writer, blogger, and presenter on a variety of technical and business topics. Erika is passionate about community involvement and currently serves as President of the San Diego Local Interest Group for the IT Service Management Forum (ITSMF).
Brian Flora, CSM, ITIL Expert
As a pioneer in internet based commerce, Brian Flora began his career in IT by founding Cyclepath.com in 1995 while still in college at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. As one of the first eCommerce retail businesses, Cyclepath sold bicycles and equipment online and shipped to a global customer base. Brian later went on to work for other internet startups, including GoDaddy.com. As System Architect and IT Operations Manager, he managed the delivery of 24x7 high availability, mission critical IT services in support of GoDaddy’s phenomenal growth from 2001-2006. In 2006, Brian co-founded Beyond20 and has since helped hundreds of organizations across industries and sectors manage complex infrastructure through effective processes. He is a frequent columnist for CIO magazine as well as a popular speaker and blogger. Brian was also a featured speaker at the itSMF National Conference in September 2010 where he delivered a session on IT Service Strategy entitled “Results Based Management: Building a Balanced Scorecard that Works”.
Arizona Technology Council Membership
We both attended the Governor’s Celebration of Innovation a number of times while working for other companies, and were always impressed with the support the Council provided for Arizona firms. Council membership was the logical choice when we launched our venture, and this year we saw sponsorship as a way to expand our presence as Beyond20 has grown.
